Psychological or psychotherapeutic support is, in addressing problems of addiction and\/or drug use, an inseparable part of a comprehensive (treatment) process. In Slovakia, however, the availability of these services is significantly limited. In this article, we provide a list of organizations that offer psychological support for people with experience of addictive substances, as well as private providers that we found online. We would like to point out that when seeking psychological support, it is always important to turn to organizations and professionals who offer professional psychological services\u2014specifically psychologists, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists. Religious-type organizations without the above-mentioned professionals cannot be considered professional psychological support, and we therefore do not include them in this list. We recommend that you carefully consider your choice of organization or service provider.
If psychological or psychotherapeutic support specifically focused on addressing problems related to addiction or drug use is not available in your area, we still recommend turning to whatever form of psychological or psychotherapeutic support is accessible to you. Psychological and psychotherapeutic support is important in addressing addiction or problems with the use of addictive substances because it:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n \u2013 helps you understand why a person uses drugs,<\/p>\n\n \u2013 shows how to cope with difficult situations in a different way,<\/p>\n\n \u2013 supports processing difficult experiences and emotions,<\/p>\n\n \u2013 helps build self-confidence and relationships,<\/p>\n\n \u2013 provides a safe space for conversation without judgment.<\/p>\n\n We do not have experience with all organizations and providers listed, but we would be grateful for any reviews.
